Brent crude down as impact of US sanctions fade

The FTSE 100 was steady at 7,175.57, regaining most of its losses from earlier in the morning session, despite a 2.38pc drop in British energy giant Centrica’s shares.

Brent crude dropped 0.87pc at $61.44 following a report that showed an increase in US crude inventories, while the impact of US sanctions on Venezuela faded.

Sterling remained near two week lows at $1.2954 as investors considered a report being discussed amongst cabinet ministers that could delay Brexit by eight weeks.
