The FTSE 100 recovered early morning losses, reaching 6,936.35 ahead of an expected soft start on Wall Street.

International benchmark Brent crude edged 0.34pc higher at $61.89 and was set for solid weekly gains due to increased hopes that the US and China would resolve their trade dispute.

Sterling slipped of session highs against the dollar and Euro after Theresa May ruled out extending Article 50 to delay the country’s exit from the EU.
