Brent crude gains ahead of OPEC meeting

The FTSE 100 was down 0.507pc at 7,026.58 due to a slowdown in the British economy after concerns over Brexit fail to cooldown as the Bank of England’s Mark Carney defends the bank’s warning of a major economic hit from Brexit in parliament.

Brent crude extended its gains to $63.10, up 2.29pc, ahead of an OPEC summit that is expected to see another round of production cuts from the bloc.

Sterling surged 0.6pc to trade at $1.2803 against the dollar following the announcement from the European Court of Justice that state the UK had the right to withdraw its notice that it is leaving the European Union.
