Concern over the US continues to weigh oil down

The FTSE 100 was down 0.1pc at 7,317.63 this morning, dragged by mining companies but slightly outperforming a negative European market on the back of a weak sterling.

The pound has continued to slide down to its lowest level in a week at $1.3368 against the dollar.

The global benchmark, Brent crude, was down 0.62pc at $62.47 – partly weighed down by rising concern over US inventories.
